Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-05-25 · Last updated: 2026-05-25
CursorBrush is a screen annotation tool for macOS. Privacy and data minimization are core to the product design.
1. Data we collect
None. CursorBrush does not collect, store, or transmit any user data. There is no account, no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting opt-out (because there is no crash reporting). All drawings, snapshots, and preferences live entirely on your Mac.
2. Permissions we request (and why)
- Accessibility — required by macOS for CursorBrush to receive global keyboard shortcuts (e.g. ⌃ + Space to toggle the drawing overlay) even when another app is in the foreground. No keystrokes are logged or transmitted.
- Apple Events — used to detect when Keynote or PowerPoint enters slideshow mode and to advance slides from the floating slide controller. No data is read from your presentation file.
- Screen Recording (optional) — only requested if you use the Freeze feature (Pro), which captures a snapshot of your screen for annotation. The snapshot stays on your Mac.
3. In-App Purchases
CursorBrush Pro ($5.99 one-time), Ultra ($14.99 one-time), and the Pro-to-Ultra upgrade are processed entirely through Apple's StoreKit. We do not receive your Apple ID, email, name, or payment details. Apple provides us only with an anonymous transaction identifier for receipt validation.
4. Third-party services
None. CursorBrush makes no network requests on its own except for Apple-managed StoreKit receipt validation. Other outbound activity happens only when:
- You manually click a support email link, which opens your default mail client. You then choose whether to send the email.
- macOS validates In-App Purchase receipts with Apple's servers (a system-level process outside CursorBrush's control).
5. Children's privacy
CursorBrush is suitable for all ages. We collect no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
6. Changes to this policy
If we ever change how data is handled, we will update this page and bump the "Last updated" date. We will also note the change in the app's release notes.
